Funeral services for Carl Kelly Braden will be held Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Crawford Family Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Carl Kelly Braden, 90 years old, husband of Mary Ann Braden (married 11/18/1952 67 years), passed away on August 26th, 2022 in Oklahoma City. Carl was born on April 5th, 1932 in Cherry Hill, Oklahoma to Sherman and Jewell Braden. Carl graduated from Seminole High School in 1951. Carl was soon drafted into the United States Army. He served in the small artillery unit holding the title of Sergeant during the Korean War where he obtained a bronze star medal. After his service, he returned home safely to his beautiful bride, Mary Ann. Carl worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. where he retired thirty five years later. He enjoyed serenity at their farm in Seminole, tending to the cattle. Carl loved working with his hands. You could often find him in his shop wood working, constructing and building gifts for others or simply tinkering. He loved to take his family camping, which became a yearly tradition. Before the sun arose, during the day and as the sun set, he would be found checking the trot line. Many a fish were caught over the years. He loved his wife s cooking and would never turndown a sweet treat, ever. Carl was the definition of a hard worker. If you knew Carl, you knew that he could outwork most and those who didn t know Carl where astonished that he could run circles around anyone, even in his 80s. Carl was sharp and could fix anything. Not only was Carl sharp, he was a thoughtful, generous, humble servant. He loved volunteering and serving within his church. It didn t matter the ask, if one needed something, Carl was the first to help. If you were to visit at his home, upon leaving, he would ensure you were clear to back out and then would wave goodbye. Upon his final earthly wave, I m sure Carl turned and ran as fast as he could into the arms of Mary Ann in Heaven. Carl is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Schrie Braden of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, one daughter, Carla Cormack of Edmond, Oklahoma; five granddaughters, Ashley and Joey Bowling of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Allison and Doug Haymaker of Edmond, Kelli Cormack of Edmond, Kristi Cormack of Edmond and Autumn and Alex Kidd of Edmond; five great grandchildren, Braden and Hunter Haymaker, Collin and Anna Bowling and Jackson Kidd; two brothers, Gale and Barbara Braden of Edmond and Bill and Betty Braden of Roanoke, Texas.
